Monique Messer and her partner Keon Lewis opened their doors to the Historic Overtown community by giving the community its own Black-owned coffee shop. Groovin’ Bean Coffee Bar & Shop has become a go-to spot in Overtown by creating a community-like atmosphere and infusing the fabric of Overtown’s culture into the company. More than just a coffee shop, Groovin’ Bean distinguishes itself from the major chains by also offering cafe food, Cuban coffee, and an open space for patrons to comfortably meet and gather.
